Jeanique sets her sights on Talent America

SUNDOWNER – Reaching for the stars and beyond is now a reality for young Jeanique.

Jeanique Fourie (11) is taking the performing arts industry by storm.

In her Grade 6 year at Curro Aurora she received her Gauteng provincial colours for performing arts in singing, dancing, acting and modelling.

Among her many medals and achievements she also made it into the South African team to represent her country in New York at the Talent America competition on 2 July.

Her parents are trying to raise the necessary funds to send her on this wonderful adventure, but it’s a far stretch.

“If we cannot send her this year, we will start saving now and aim to send her next year,” they said.

Fourie also competed in one of the most prestigious international talent competitions called Imta (International Model and Talent Association).

The list of her achievements is very long and includes the following highlights:

  • Overall first place in the singing competition
  • First place for commercial print, which means her photographic modelling photos were the best
  • Winner in the category for most international callbacks

Her heart and soul beats for the performing arts. Fourie can be found permanently singing, dancing and acting out scenes from movies and musicals, when at home.

She also studies a part-time musical theatre course at Stageworx Performing Arts School, in which she is doing ballet, tap and modern dance, musical theatre, piano and vocals. She is currently preparing for her Trinity School of London Exams, which is coming up in June.

To top off her crazy success, the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra has asked Jeanique to sing a song at their open-air concert for the Charity Blanket Drive for the Homeless on 4 June.
