Help find Vukani

HONEYDEW – Vukani Mbatha was last seen in February and police are requesting assistance in finding the missing man.

Honeydew Police Station has confirmed that an investigation is underway regarding the mysterious disappearance of Vukani Mbatha who was last seen on 14 February.

Mbatha’s estate agent, Erika Myburgh said after numerous attempts to contact Mbatha, they then opened a missing person case at the station.

“We have tried numerous times since 2 March to get hold of him via email, phone calls, SMSes, and going through to his unit in Honeydew and placing letters underneath his unit’s door,” Myburgh said.

“Mbatha has been renting a property from us since 2011 and we have never had a problem with him at all. When he missed paying his March rent we then went to his house in Honeydew after we couldn’t get hold of him at all,” Myburgh said.

She explained that they were further puzzled when they entered Mbatha’s flat and found that he had left everything as though he was coming back.

“We found everything in place, all his furniture was still there, a cup of coffee in the sink and even the food in the fridge,” she said.

According to a letter that Myburgh said they found on Mbatha’s coffee table, he had resigned from Eskom and was due to receive his severance package.

A worried Myburgh said they had tried to contact him through his wife’s number, but the number did not work. She described Mbatha as a nice guy who was always smiling and said she was extremely worried about him.

Police have urged anyone who may have any information on the whereabouts of Mbatha to contact them.
