Curro Aurora schoolchildren will travel to Vietnam on an anti-rhino poaching awareness trip

SUNDOWNER – While on tour, the students will furnish two presentations on this topic at two universities

A group of 28 Curro Aurora teens are travelling to Vietnam in April on an adventure, culture enrichment and community services tour.

One of the focal points will be to raise awareness regarding rhino poaching. Vietnam is one of the world’s most prolific users of rhino horn.

While on tour, the students will present two topics at two universities.

The presentation carries the message from our beautiful South Africa as well as the school, that rhinos need to be protected and that rhino horn is not a medicine.

The children will also be visiting and working at a WWII orphanage.

The children at this orphanage are all disabled due to birth defects stemming from chemical warfare used during the war.

Their parents are unable to care adequately for them due to poverty.

The young adventurers will be assisting at dinner time and will be donating over R3 000 worth of rice to the home.

This tour forms part of Curro’s theme, The Road Less Travelled.

In 2014 they sand-boarded the dunes of Namibia and interacted with the local San, and 2015 saw the young minds raft the rivers of Thailand and work on an organic farm.
