Talent sought for an amateur theatrical production

ALDARA PARK – The Players put on shows for the love of music and theatre by performing and supporting local charities, churches and retirement villages.

Whether you’re young or old, experienced or inexperienced, The Players welcome you to join their amateur theatrical group which has planned a fun-filled theatrical calendar this year.

The Players are calling on new members to join their first production, HMS Dumbledore, a cleverly written stage pantomime based on Harry Potter’s The Philosopher Stone, which has been set to the music of the comic operetta, HMS Pinafore, as written by Arthur Sullivan and WS Gilbert.

“HMS is an exciting fun-filled, belly aching, laughing show. Performed once before in September 2012, we decided to bring it back to life as we have a new and bigger venue to perform it in. And it’s current to all age group audiences.” said member, Melanie Buwalda.

The Players require a minimum of 15 actors and actresses to put on HMS, which they plan on performing in October at the St Martin’s Catholic Church in Craighall Park.

Traditionally, The Players put on shows for the love of music and theatre by performing and supporting local charities, churches and retirement villages, to name a few.

If you’re not a performer but are interested in set design and backstage management, the group welcomes you onboard.

Meetings are held every Tuesday from 7.30pm, with extra rehearsals scheduled through the week closer to the show dates.

The Players intend holding auditions by the second week of April.

All interested parties are welcome to contact the Players via info@the-players.co.za for more details.
