Armed robbery: Suspect behind bars

LINDEN – Suspect who was involved in a Blairgowrie robbery in 2015 is sentenced to 15 years in prison.

 

 

RANDBURG – One of the two suspects, who were involved in an armed robbery at a residential home in 2015, is behind bars.

The 30-year-old male was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for the incident which occurred in February 2015 in Willowvale Road in Blairgowrie.

According to the police report, two armed men ambushed their victim and his wife early in the morning while they were in their bedroom. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and tied them up with cable ties.

They took jewellery, a laptop, cellphones and money and fled the scene in a Silver Nissan Sentra, which was parked outside the house.

Linden police investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Anton Mahne followed the incident thoroughly to ensure the perpetrators were brought to book.

“Forensics were done and fingerprints found on 13 April, 2016,” said Linden police spokesperson, Captain Walter Spencer.

The suspect was arrested in Sophiatown for another case of robbery and his fingerprints were linked to the incident. “He never received bail until he was sentenced to prison,” said Spencer.
