UPDATE: No arrests made in Blairgowrie murder

BLAIRGOWRIE – Linden police confirm the items stolen in the murder.

No arrests have been made in conjunction with the brutal murder of John Bloor, a 71-year-old man killed in his home on 22 November.

Captain Walter Spencer, spokesperson for Linden Police, confirmed a laptop, the house safe, jewellery and 500 pounds were taken by the suspects.

Spencer asked if anyone sees any of the stolen items or the documents and passports stolen in the safe to contact him on 079 880 4955, as an investigating officer has not been assigned to the case yet.

Bloor was alone at home when the suspects broke in and stabbed him in his abdominal area multiple times before making off with the items. His wife, Cathie and his granddaughter, discovered the house had been broken into and called the next door neighbour, who found the body.

Spencer admitted that Blairgowrie has seen a lot of crime of late but was unable to give much detail besides that another stabbing had also taken place about two weeks ago.

When asked what residents should do to keep safe, Spencer answered, “The main problem is that residents employ people off the road without properly screening them. They must be screened and have police clearance otherwise we do not have a record of them. Residents need to get proper references.”
