Illegal car guards are not allowed in the Park

DELTA PARK – Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo says illegal car guards are not allowed to operate in the park.

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo vehemently condemned the illegal car guards and their behaviour who are allegedly operating in Delta Park.
The entity’s Noeleen Mattera said the car guards were not allowed at all the City’s park and open facilities. “These [guards] are not deployed by City Parks, as the park rangers do inspections on sites to enforce bylaws,” she said.

Crime incidents in Delta Park
One resident, Stacey Smeyatsky queried on the Delta Park Facebook page on 5 November if she was obliged to pay the guards who watch their cars while doing the park run. “It has happened before and it happened again this morning. I never had money on me and never gave the guard anything and he became extremely abusive and threatening,” she wrote.
Matera further encouraged residents who regularly visit Delta Park to report those incidents at the Linden Police Station and with the Metro police.

Sizwe Mabuza of the park ranger’s department, said they were on site in the morning of 15 November and did not find any car guards. “The park rangers also met with CSS Security and were informed that weekends are usually busier than on weekdays, hence the absence of the illegal car guards,” he said.
