Scheduled repairs do not reach Maria Street

FONTAINEBLEAU – Roadsides around Fontainbleau are under construction due to the laying of new water pipes.

Residents near Maria Street and Percy Road still have an incomplete intersection as new road markings have not been undertaken.

According to Bertha Peters-Scheepers, operations manager for marketing and communications for Joburg Roads Agency, the road markings were completed. “The entire Maria Road was completed by the team. Repainting of street names has been scheduled for the entire suburb which will be undertaken shortly and the stop sign will be replaced,” said Peters-Scheepers.

However, resident, Kobus Oosterhuizen said, “It is impossible for JRA to have repainted the markings as Joburg Water is digging trenches in the area to lay new water pipes, so there is earth in the street where the stop sign should be.” He, however, confirms that the road markings in other streets in Fontainebleau have been redone.

According to Oosterhuizen, it is worse on Rabie Street and Percy Road where the road has been made into a single lane due to the mounds of soil. “There are no signs up to say there is construction going on, there should at least be signs up,” Ossterhuizen complained.

Updates to follow.
