BRYANSTON – A resident was robbed at gunpoint outside her gate – police warn against wearing bling.

Randburg police are warning residents to avoid wearing expensive jewellery after a resident was robbed of her jewellery at gunpoint outside her house.

Spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station, Captain Makgowanyana Maja said the incident happened on 6 September in Bryanston at around 3.30 pm, when the victim arrived home from the shopping centre. “While she was waiting for the gate to open, she was surprised by two unknown suspects,” Maja said.

He explained it was at this point that suspects pointed a firearm at her and robbed her of her jewellery.

“As the police investigate the matter, we urge residents to be more vigilant, especially when approaching their place of residence. If you feel you are being followed, please go to the nearest police station; call your sector patrol vehicle or even security company for assistance,” he added.

He advised residents to avoid wearing expensive jewellery as it attracted potential criminals.
