Join Cosmo City Fun Run
COSMO CITY – Cosmo City Athletics club is struggling to operate and support its members. The funds raised will enable the club to participate in other club's running events
Residents are invited to the first formal Cosmo City 5km Fun Run meant to raise funds for the running club, Cosmo City Athletics Club.
This event will be hosted at the Cosmo City Shopping Centre on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Dawn Street on 9 August.
Participants will run from the shopping centre along the South Africa Road and back to the starting venue.
The run will be a much-awaited attraction for the community and surrounding suburbs with only R10 entry fee for participants.
“This event will bring together the community and create a platform for both young and old runners to compete. It will be open to all age groups and it will have different categories for different participants,” said race director, Kwame Mahlaba.
He explained that the aim of the run was not only to raise funds for the club but also to support NGOs that operate around the township.
“Cosmo City Athletics club is struggling to operate and support its members. The funds raised will enable the club to participate in other club’s running events and also cover related fees to travel to such events and the entry fees,” he said.
The shopping centre management is expected to allocate some of the car parking space to host the run. Residents who aspire to participate have until 6 August to enter the competition.
