Areas within each ward

JOBURG – With the local government here, here are the candidates who hope to become your ward councillor after Wednesday

Arguably the most contested elections since 1994, has approached and gathering from the eNCA Ipsos polls over the last few weeks, the Democratic Alliance (DA), African National Congress (ANC) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are the featuring parties.

In the City of Johannesburg (CoJ), the polls showed the DA in the lead by 5 percentage points, followed by the ANC at 31 percent of respondents likely to vote for the ruling party and the EFF with 9 percent of the respondents’ support.

Each party hopes to bring change or continue to bring change in communities, but for a clearer picture of what each party offers, go to the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) website , click on VIEW and scroll through all the contesting parties for their information and web sites.

The following pages show the candidate councillors from the DA, EFF and ANC for the wards in Randburg:

Ward 96 includes Kya Sand, Chartwell, Farmall, Bloubosrand and other areas outside of the Randburg Sun distribution.

Ward 98 includes Randpark Ridge, Kelland, Cresta, Windsor East, Windsor West, Windsor Glen, Randpark and Fairland.

Ward 99 includes parts of Robin Acres, Robindale, Linden, Jacanlee, Darrenwood and Robin Hills.

Ward 100 includes Cosmo City and parts of the surrounding areas.

Ward 101, recently demarcated, includes parts of Boskruin, Bromhof, Northwold, Sonneglans, Golden Harvest, Hunters Hill, Sharonlea, Olivedale, Ward 102 includes parts of Bryanston, Blairgowrie, Willowild, Moret, parts of Ferndale and parts of Robin Acres.

Ward 104 includes Praegville, parts of Ferndale, Strijdompark, Beverley Gardens, Kensington B and Cowdray Park.

Ward 114, recently demarcated, includes Zandspruit and parts of surrounding areas.

Ward 115 includes North Riding, Johannesburg North, Jukskei Park, Noordhang and Northlands.

Ward 117 includes Victory Park and other suburbs outside of Randurg Sun distribution.

Ward 134, a newly demarcated ward, includes North rRding, Northgate, parts of Boskruin, Randpark Ridge and Sundowner.

Please note: A total of 14 parties, excluding the above mentioned, also have candidates contesting in the Johannesburg wards. They will also appear on the ballots.

They are: African Christian Democratic Party, African Independent Congress, African People’s Convention, African People’s Socialist Party, Agang South Africa, Al Jama-ah, Azanian People’s Organisation, Congress of the People, Patriotic Alliance, Truly Alliance, United Democratic Movement, Freedom Front Plus, Inkatha Freedom Party, International Revelation Congress and there are independent candidates.
