JOBURG – Four more journalists are waiting for their fate.

After a tedious court battle, four SABC journalists who were fired, won the case against their employer.

Foeta Krige, Suna Venter, Krivani Pillay and Jacques Steenkamp appeared in the Cape Town Labour Court on 26 July to face their judgement after it was postponed on two different occasions.

This happened after the SABC announced its decision to stop broadcasting protests on its television channels. The four journalists, as well as four others (the so-called #SABC8), Thandeka Gqubule, Busisiwe Ntuli, Vuyo Mvoku and Lukhanyo Calata, opposed the new act, were suspended and later fired after receiving dismissal letters.

Judgement for the remaining four journalists is still pending. South Africans took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the matter. Some tweets read that maybe the journalists should not return to work for the SABC.
