SPCA Randburg 67-minute celebrations

NORTH RIDING –Handprints, bricks and donations flood in for early Mandela Day celebrations.

Mandela Day celebrations came early to SPCA Randburg with a colourful wall of handprints.

Animal lovers, staff, and supporters joined in on the special events, which were to buy a brick, donate a hand print and virtual adoption.

Children and adults could get their handprints on the kennel walls for a small donation of R10 per print. The ‘buy a brick’ initiative saw folks buying one brick for R67, that will go towards the building of the new kennels.

A fun event is the ‘virtual adoption’. Where you can virtually adopt an animal for R67 for 67 minutes. This is done in hope, that you fall in love with the pet.

SPCA Randburg was filled with volunteers offering their help in any way they could. Some cleaned up storage rooms while others helped sort out the building materials in the yard.

SPCA Randburg general manager, Craig Rudman said, “It was an extremely successful day with a lot of much-needed attention drawn towards the animals that need a home.”

“We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for their time and effort spent during our Mandela Day celebrations,” added Rudman.
