A woman was shot dead in her home in Witdoring Road, Sonneglans. Her husband and the suspect were also shot during the incident on 26 May. The suspect succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at a nearby hospital, while the husband is still receiving treatment in hospital.
Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said that cases of murder and attempted murder were opened at the police station.
A neighbour of the couple, who wished to stay anoymous, said she arrived at her house shortly after 3pm and while she was opening her gate, she heard eight to nine gunshots. She pressed her panic button immediately and went to check on her neighbours. She found the wife, husband and unknown suspect all with gunshot wounds. It is believed that the husband shot the suspect in self defence.
The wife was still alive when Community Support Services arrived one minute later, and an ambulance was called. Unfortunately the woman died on scene.
WO Jacobs could not confirm if the suspect had attempted to rob the couple, but said that more information would follow soon.
