Four rowers from St Stithians to row in Holland

LYME PARK – Four pupils from St Stithians Boys College have been chosen to row with the South African junior squad in Holland at the World Champs in August.

Four St Stithian College pupils will row with the best in the world after being selected by the South African Schools Rowing Union (SASRU).

The pupils were chosen on 18 May and will be included in the junior national squad where they will compete at the World Championships to be held in Holland in August.

Dr Tim Nuttall, St Stithians College rector said that they were incredibly proud of Mitch Booyse, Tegan Korevaar, Jordan Pepermans, and Max Silber for this amazing achievement. “We wish them all of the very best in Holland where they, along with a number of other rowers from South Africa, will compete against rowers from around the world,” he said.

He pointed out that the World Rowing Junior Championships is one of the largest and most prestigious world championships for young athletes. He added that being selected for the national squad was an incredible achievement that could not have been attained without tireless dedication, skill, and hard work.

“As a rowing school with a legacy of excellence, we are very proud of our rowers. Their selection to the national squad is great testament to their skill, hard work and discipline. We are delighted that they will be able to represent South Africa, and we know that they will be great ambassadors for rowing at the highest level,” he elaborated.
