WATCH: CCTV footage shows mini-bus taxi being used as get-away car

MALANSHOF– Suspected house robbers get away in mini-bus taxi.

A CCTV video has shown how quickly a robbery at a house can occur.

The robbery shown took place at a house in Malanshof in Wonda Street on 16 May.

The video shows a white Quantum mini-bus taxi driving up to a residential property. One suspect spent around one minute and 30 seconds apparently surveying the property, thereafter returning to the mini-bus taxi.

Another suspect then exited the mini-bus taxi and began working on disabling the gate motor in order to gain entry to the home through the gate. In a matter of seconds, all five suspects had entered the home.

The suspects returned to the mini-bus taxi with the household items they could carry.

Linden Police operations manager, Captain Alex Vermaak, said, “We can confirm that the house break-in occurred and that a case has been opened for investigation at Linden Police Station.”

However, Capt Vermaak added that residents should think twice when posting videos or pictures on social media. “If a resident is in possession of a video or a picture of suspects relating to a crime, they should first hand it over to the police so that they can continue their investigation,” added Capt Vermaak.

He added that distribution of the videos or pictures could hinder investigations for various reasons such as identity parades.
