Two armed robberies in Randburg

FERNDALE – No valuables stolen and landlord ends up locked up in the bathroom.

A robbery took place in Ferndale at about 5pm on 3 May where a woman was held at gun point.

Three suspects forced their way into a guest house that had been turned into a hostel. One of the suspects was armed and an undisclosed amount of rent money was stolen.

Linden Police spokesperson, Captain Alex Vermaak said that no shots were fired. “The victim was locked up in a bathroom and she is okay.” He said that no valuables were stolen, just the rent money.

The police suspect that the suspects knew a lot about the environment and the situation. “There are no leads yet and no arrests have been made,” said Captain Vermaak.

Another robbery took place in Malanshof on Lona Street where the victim was approached by two men armed with a knife.

“The victim was grabbed around the neck from behind by one suspect, and fought the other suspect for her bag,” said Captain Vermaak.

The two suspects grabbed the victim’s bag which contained her purse with bankcards, and fled. Captain Vermaak said that the suspect with the knife did not use or point it at the victim.
