No one left out

MALANSHOF – 1in1out aims to help communities that need the assistance of others and asks you do the same.

1in1out CEO Stephen Thomas, shares what his NGO’s hopes and aspirations are. Through the years the organisation has had a strong pull to bring awareness to the campaign against poverty, deprivation, ignorance and crime by what Thomas viewes as practically reaching out into communities and making a positive difference one person at a time.

Thomas explained that his vision was to be a sustainable force that would assist with the upliftment of those who are either: impoverished, unemployed, homeless, orphaned, disabled, incarcerated and aged. He added that he also wants to break the negative cycle of poverty and crime. “So to restore dignity, hope and health by extending knowledge, skills sets and abilities both physically and spiritually,” said Thomas.

“It’s not someone else’s problem, it’s our problem as communities, government, local government, business, religious bodies, NGOs, families and individuals,” explained Thomas. He implored people to volunteer to help the underprivileged and restore the family unit as a functional society. “With organized planning, we can contribute to alleviate and eradicate the effects of poverty and crime,” said Thomas.

Over the past 13 years the organisation has done several programmes where they serve one warm lunch and also teach right living. “At every programme we have gospel music and share the word of God,” said Thomas. He added that they also serve warm meals at every outreach coupled with hampers of groceries. “Included is clothing, toys, school stationery and uniforms, blankets in winter, and any donated items that are in good working order,” said Thomas.

Thomas concluded that they are now looking for individuals or companies that could assist in them moving their containerised buildings to Zandspruit and Cosmo City.
