BORDEAUX – Residents strive to keep their heritage site clean.

Residents of Hurlingham, Craighall Park and Bordeaux are committed to keeping the section of the Braamfontein Spruit behind Old Parktonian Sports Club, clean.

These residents strive by all means to clean the area once or twice in a month by removing trash and garbage which are constantly dumped in the area allegedly by vagrants.

Although it was established that some vagrants were using the section as their shelter, residents persist in maintaining the area. On 23 January residents cleaned the area for the first time this year.

Randburg Community Policing Forum (CPF) sector 1 chairperson, Chris Thomas explained the section of Spruit in that area was an outstanding and unique heritage site. “It is an excellent environment and we need to keep it clean,” he said.

He further explained that residents usually walk their dogs and cyclists ride their bicycles in that area.

Randburg Police spokesperson Stanley Bopape said the cleaning started from 6:30 am until 10am.

Details: Randburg SAPS 011 449 9000.
