Water leak frustrates residents

BOSKRUIN – Residents struggle to get a water leak fixed after logging faults with Joburg Water since December.

A water leak at the Harrowood complex in Thrush Avenue, Boskruin, was reported to Joburg Water numerous times.

Nardo Bornman, a member of the homeowner’s association reported a leaking water meter to Joburg Water along with other residents in the complex. Bornman said that the leak has been there since December and nothing has been done to fix the problem. The leak is next to the driveway of one of the homes in the complex. “The residents of this house cannot park their cars in the garage, because the leak is forming a sink hole and it could collapse. It causes an inconvenience to them,” said Bornman.

He further said that in times of drought it is hard to see litres of water being wasted. “I saw workers of Jobug Water come around twice, but the problem is still not fixed.”

Eleanor Mavimbela, external communications officer of Johannesburg Water, said that one of the faults had been attended to and closed. When she was told that the problem persisted, she logged another fault.
