DELTA PARK – A new start to a bold adventure, the Grade 1s of Delta Park School embrace their new normal.

When the Grade 1s entered their new classrooms on 13 January at Delta Park School, one could spot the joy on their faces and the trickle of fear that threatened to slight the stunning emotion.

The pupils came well prepared with their parents making sure that their school bags were well equipped with all they could possibly need for the day. As a trail of pupils walked toward their classrooms accompanied by their adoring parents, the realisation that their parents would soon be leaving them for the day quickly settled in.

One of the school’s most eager Grade 1 pupil, Logan Pretorious, said he looked forward to a year filled with lots of new friends he would keep for the rest of his schooling career.

“I love sports, but I most love cricket and running, I am very fast,” said Pretorious. “I am happy that I am at school now because I get to make new friends and have fun.”

Grade 1 teacher, Karen Oberholzer, said that her hopes for the Grade 1s this year were that the foundation is laid down for them with what they learn and it could be a great educational starting point for them that could see them succeed in the future.
