GALLERY: The first of many glorious days

BLAIRGOWRIE – The Grade 1s of Blairgowrie Primary School take their first steps into a whole new world.

It was a glorious day for eager Grade 1 pupils of Blairgowrie Primary School when they started their new year at big school.

The primary school had an overwhelming number of excited little ones who either could not wait to see the friends they had made in Grade R or the wonderful new friends they were likely to make in the course of the day.

Grade head, Raeesa Kaka said that she was excited for another year of learning that could better writing, reading and counting ability.

The pupils themselves looked immaculate in their uniform, with the girls prim and proper in their dresses and the boys with their tucked-in shirts and grey shorts.

One of the Grade 1 teachers, Alta Fischer, said she was looking forward to a year of pupils who were happy to learn.

“I want the children to believe in their abilities and learn that it is important to make mistakes so that they can learn from them and take away something from every experience,” said Fischer.

Fellow teacher, Camilla Montgomery, who has been a teacher for four years, concluded saying the pupils were very enthusiastic to get the day started and the looks on their faces were just heart-warming.
