Mother and son critical, airlifted to hospital

A father died and his wife and son were critically injured following an accident on the R114 between Malibongwe and Beyers Naudé drives in Lanseria, at around 7pm on 12 January.

Netcare 911 media liaison officer Athlenda Mathe explained that reports from the scene indicated that, “a vehicle drove into the back of a truck, leaving the driver dead and two other occupants in a critical condition”.

She continued that according to paramedics, “The three occupants of the vehicle are a family. The dad who was the driver tragically died on scene. The mother and eight-year-old son who are in a critical condition have been flown to a nearby hospital for further medical care. The mother and son were both flown in a Netcare2 helicopter.”
