Shack under construction for homeless matriculant

ITSUSENG – Esona Mina finally has a shack being built for her and her daughter.

Weltevreden Park resident Solomzi Mmemezi donated a shack to homeless girl in Itsuseng informal settlement.

Esona Mina lost everything when her shack burnt down at Itsuseng informal settlement on 5 September. Mina lost her school books, uniform, furniture, and all her clothing and her two year old baby’s clothing as well. She stayed without help for three months until Mmemezi came to her rescue.

Mmemezi is a business man who saw an article in the Randburg Sun about Mina and her misfortune. He acted by buying Mina a shack and having professional people install it. The construction of the shack has started and he said that it will be completed by 4 December. “We are just doing the finishing touches such as the doors, windows and some tiles,” said Mmemezi.

Mmemezi has been helping people where he can for the last seven years and said that people spend a lot of money on things like alcohol but they cannot help people who really need the assistance. Mmemezi said, “It is Christmas time and I do not want to see such a young child suffering.”

Esona lived with six other family members after her shack burnt down, in a small two room shack. She said that she would appreciate some clothes for herself and her baby and some furniture to be donated.
