Keep safe during the festive season from Linden SAPS

LINDEN – Station Commander of Linden SAPS speaks out to the community during the festive season.

Colonel Balaraman Govindasamy, the Station Commander of Linden Police, speaks about the challenges and achievements of 2015.

The festive season is upon us and most people are looking forward to enjoying a well-deserved holiday, quality time with friends and family or just relaxing and enjoying the festivities.

This year has had its fair amount of challenges for us, the SAPS, as well as our partners in the fight against crime.

I want to take this opportunity of acknowledging the contribution of the following role players for the success we have achieved thus far:

  • All my members of staff for staying the course and heeding the call to serve – even under the most difficult of times.
  • The new Community Policing Forum executive was elected under the leadership of Lara Bath.

They took over the baton from the previous CPF under the leadership of Jadd Harding.

I want to thank all of them for their voluntary service to Lindenites.

Their support and mobilisation of communities has been instrumental in reducing crime in the area.

  • I also acknowledge and thank all the security companies namely, ADT, Securitas, Ghost, CSS Tactical, Community Support Services, Papomani, Fidelity, Lanwhabo, Fast Tactical, Popo Protection Services, SIP Security Practice, Capp, Beagle Watch, Londoloza, Trojan, Amahlo, Cortac, Vushu Guardian and CSS Community Service for their assistance in combating and preventing crime in Linden.
  • Constable G Kuchukov and his small, but extremely effective, band of reservists for supplementing our forces to ensure that Linden was safe. I also want to encourage all residents to join the CPF and the reserve force so that Linden policing area can be much safer.

With the beginning of each and every festive season the message of love, mutual respect, tolerance and restraint goes out to all of us. Yet, some will willingly choose to ignore these principles which will result in heartache and tragedy for them and innocent others.

So in conclusion, I appeal to each and every one to please not just pay lip service to these principles but to really practice them.

Guaranteed that if you do this the festive season will be just that – festive, happy and a great end to a difficult year and a great beginning to a new year.

I want to wish you all a fantastic festive season and a very happy New Year.

Rest assured that the police and their partners will be doing their best to protect you and your possessions.
