Honeyridge Baptist Church brings you Christmas like never before

RANDPARK RIDGE – Experience the story of baby Jesus like you were there.

Honeyridge Baptist Church is hosting A walk-through Living Nativity on 4 to 6 December.

This is a whole new way to experience the Christmas story, where they will be showing the nativity of baby Jesus that we all know, but doing it differently, taking you through it like you were there and bringing a more visual aspect to the story. “We will be taking the traditional Christmas carol service and enhancing it,” said David Birkholez, youth pastor at the church in Randpark Ridge.

Youth Pastor David Birkholez says this will be a great experience for all ages.

You will experience live animals, you will be able to touch and smell everything as the story comes to life. The church will be transformed into the town of Bethlehem and members of the community will be taken through a guided 30-minute tour of the scenes, and hear the story being told by a narrator with actual characters who will be dressed up throughout the entire experience. This will end with a choir singing carols at the end of the tour.

Children's director Bronwyn Marshall says the idea has been brewing for seven years.

Ten rooms at the church will show a different aspect of Christmas, giving you 10 scenes of the closest experience you will ever get of the birth of Jesus.

This is the first year it will be done at the church. “We just wanted to try something different where we bring the story to life and bring the community together,” said Pastor Birkholez.

The event has no charge and the church is encouraging all people in the community, young and old, to come and experience Christmas in a whole new refreshing way. Food will be provided to the community as well.

The children’s direcor, Bronwyn Marshall said, “The children will enjoy the animals running around and the smells of breads and spices will surely intrigue the older crowd,” said Marshall.
