Rotary Club of Randburg makes a difference

BRYANSTON – Volunteers at the Rotary Club of Randburg believe in giving the community skills to lead a sustainable lifestyle.

The Rotary Club of Randburg dedicate their time and resources in order to give back to the community with the assistance of their passionate members and volunteers.

The Rotary Club, which was established 35 years ago, currently has 28 members.

Public relations director Jack Hartmann has been a Rotarian for the past 17 years and was previously the president of the club two years ago. He said that the Randburg Rotary Club’s main aim is to help people acquire skills in order to be able to live a sustainable life but also to give them the skills to run their own businesses.

The type of projects the club is involved in varies from hosting wine-tasting evenings, quiz evening to fashion shows in order to raise funds for worthy causes.

Hartmann said that each project is evaluated by the project’s committee and then presented to each member before it is implemented. Club members have a meeting once per month at the Bryanston Sports Club.

“I’m most passionate about the international youth exchange where students from the ages of 14–18 visit from a different country and are hosted by a family in the club for one year. This initiative has taken place for the past 35 years,” he said.

Residents can join in by attending the meetings in order to find out what the club is about and the initiatives it is involved with.
