WATCH: Protesters cause chaos in Kya Sand
KYA SAND - Violent protest disrupts morning traffic.
A violent strike has broken out along Malibongwe Drive and Riverbend road, Kya Sand 12 October.
The police are monitoring the situation closely and have advised motorists to avoid the area.
Community leader Bill Modikwe said the MMC of Housing promised them houses three weeks back, houses they’ve been waiting for over the past 20 years.
Infuriated community members have barricaded the roads. One of the strikers said earlier today the Somalians were forced to attend the strike. “As early as 3am the leaders were knocking at every Somalian shop forcing them to join the movement.
“I couldn’t even go to work today,” said an eyewitness who could not be named.
