MULTIMEDIA: Wrapped in Colour, United in Hope

RANDPARK – Paint the town red took a twist with Pink Trees for Pauline initiative.

The Fairway Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, owned by Guvon Hotels and Spas, encouraged women from all backgrounds to wrap Pink Trees for Pauline on 6 October.

The group of women joined together to wrap each and every tree with a variety of pink-coloured material starting from the hotel and ending at Republic Road. Pink Trees for Pauline is an initiative which started in 2012 by Carol-Ann van Jaarsveldt, who according to the website Pink Trees for Pauline “took the legacy of her mother and grandmother and turned it into an epic tale of hope, encouragement and belonging. Carol-Ann lost her mother and her grandmother, both named Pauline, to cancer”.

The slogan used is, Wrapped in Colour, United in Hope, which accurately described the scene of women wrapping trees in Randpark, pink.

The Fairway guest relations and marketing manager, Stefanie Pietzsch said, “We are passionate about our community and each year we do this, we hope to bring greater awareness to the cause.”

Listen to Pietzsch explain how the event works.
