Dance to get fit

BERARIO – Line dancing is a fun way to keep fit.

Over 16 years ago, Nancy Mawdsley started a line-dance club and called it Outlaws SA.

Her aim is to keep people in her neighbourhood fit and strong including teaching them how to dance.

Mawdsley said Outlaws SA, is a friendly line-dance club, that welcomes all races, genders and age groups.

“There are so many things that we can do out there to keep our communities healthy including encouraging people to adopt a healthy living lifestyle,” she said.

Mawdsley said that people will experience fun and laughter and an opportunity to meet new friends while getting fit while dancing to some really good music.

“Laughing a bit, in the company of new friends helps a lot.

“No previous dancing experience is needed, and coming with partners is not necessary as the dance can be done with or without a partner,” explained Mawdsley.

The dance sessions takes places every Tuesday and Thursday.

“On Tuesdays we are at St Mungo’s United Church in Bryanston, and Thursdays we are at the Berario Recreation Centre. It is all about fun, socialising,” said Mawdsley.

The centre is situated on corner Kings and Dolores Street.
