Sector 1 manager Constable Vincent Hlungwane said the purpose of these meetings was to warn residents and domestic workers about residential burglary incidents.

He added that residents should be vigilant and ensure their homes will not pose an easy target.

Constable Hlungwane further cautioned residents to arrange for their mail and package delivery, especially when they are away on holiday, “as this provides an opportunity for criminals to find out which property is unoccupied.”

“Bins have become a crime tool, put your bins out in the morning for collection and make sure its back behind doors and out of sight immediately after it has been emptied,” warned Const Hlungwane.

He concluded that crime prevention was everyone’s responsibility.
