Tiny Tots turns 20

FERNDALE – Nursery school celebrates its 20-year milestone with cake.

The Tiny Tots Nursery School recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with pupils, their parents as well as the dedicated staff that contribute to the school. Each family received a cake in commemoration of the symbolic milestone.

Principal Karina van der Colf (37) has been teaching at the nursery school for the past 19 years. She said she is proud to be part of this symbolic celebration.

On the special day, the school’s foyer was decorated with various art work from the pupils. Both the parents and the children were delighted to celebrate this milestone.

The nursery school’s founder Ronell Schlebusch’s (57) passion for teaching started when she was a school teacher at the National School of the Arts.

In 1995 she bought the nursery school in Ferndale. Today, the nursery school has 130 pupils. ”It takes good staff, system and a passion for children to run a school for 20 years,” she said.

Tiny Tots Nursery School will host their annual spring picnic on 4 September in the school’s garden where each pupil will bring a picnic basket packed by their parents. Van der Colf said this annual event is one the children look forward too.

The nursery school will also have an art exhibition on 9 November, where the pupils will compile art work that will be displayed on the day, ranging from R10–R25 each. All proceeds will go toward the art department.
