Henry the three-legged-dog

NORTH RIDING – Henry the three-legged-dog is happily recovering and needs a forever home.

Meet Henry, the survivor dog who has lost his left hind leg and desperately needs a forever home from the Randburg SPCA.

Henry is a male, cross miniature pinscher, about one year old, and was given to the Randburg SPCA on 28 April. The owner claimed that they travelled too often and could not take care of him. When he was handed over, a clear limp was visible on his left hind leg.

The staff of Randburg SPCA took him to North Riding Veterinary Clinic where it was established that his leg was broken. What is even more shocking is the leg had been broken for about eight weeks and had received no treatment.

A kind benefactor offered to pay for an operation, thereafter it was decided that amputation was the best option. The reason for the high amputation was the fact that the break was left untreated for so long.

Little Henry is now recovering at the Randburg SPCA (Kennel D3) and needs a sweet, loving and caring family.

Often the life quality of amputee animals is called into question. Kennel manager Leigh de Beaufort said, “They manage extremely well as their balance is compensated by their other limbs. They continue to live content lives.”
