Douglasdale CPF hands over mascot

DOUGLASDALE – Residents and CPF members attended the Douglasdale CPF meeting.

The community of Douglasdale gathered for a slightly different CPF meeting on 8 June at Green Village.

The group started the meeting with the handing over of ‘Doug’ their toy mascot to Douglasdale SAPS Station Commander Brigadier Letti Hugo. This action was to formerly challenge the police to their 5th annual Fun Run/ Walk that will take place later on this year.

An interesting presentation was done by an Olivedale veterinarian, who discussed the vulnerability of animals at home.

It was recommended that owners of sick dogs should remain vigilant.

CPF chairperson Charmaine van Rijswijk commented, β€œThe main crimes affecting our sector is car-jamming and card-scamming at ATMs. I urge residents to check that your car is actually locked and nothing is left visible through the windows. At ATMs, don’t let anyone interfere with you or ask questions that distract you.”

Neighbourhood Watch representatives remarked that many residents leave their gates open.

They are urged to keep all gates closed at all times.

Sector 1 meetings are held every second Monday of the month at Green Village on the corner of Witkoppen Road in Douglasdale.

The next meeting will be on 13 July.
