2015 court brief updates

RANDBURG – An update on the court cases currently trending at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

The case involving a man accused of stabbing his wife about fifty times in Bryanston, will be heard again at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, Kensington B, on 15 June. The case has been postponed several times in order for a bed to become available at the Sterkfontein Psychiatric Ward. This was deemed relevant after he tried to commit suicide after allegedly brutally killing his wife on 16 August last year. See previous story.

The driver involved in the car accident where Top Billing celebrity Simba Mhere and his passenger Kady-Shady O’Bryan died on 31 January, appeared before court on 4 June. The case will again be heard on 26 June. See previous story.

The Midrand murder saga continues on 1 July. This involves the death of young Thohira Mita at her home in Midrand. The domestic worker, Deliwe Zwakal and three other accomplices have been accused of the murder and robbery on 12 December last year. See previous story.

Male and female counterfeit culprits’ case will be heard again on 22 July. Two people have had their bail denied and are facing multiple counts of counterfeit money, fraud, possession of stolen goods and reckless driving. See previous story.

Four suspects accused of kidnapping a mother and eight-month-old baby appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 8 January. The case was postponed a number of times due to verification of passports and status in the country. The suspects aged between 28 and 34 allegedly kidnapped the woman and her baby girl on 1 January on their way back from Zimbabwe. See previous story.
