Help keep your community warm

RANDBURG – A rotary blanket drive aims to help charities across Johannesburg.

Johannesburg Main Reef Rotary and Northcliff Rotary clubs will hold a blanket drive at Brightwater Commons on 30 and 31 May. The drive will be held outside the Pick n Pay, with the goal of raising sufficient funds to purchase and distribute 50 000 blankets across Johannesburg, focusing on as many charities as possible. Blankets can be purchased and pledged at R60 each.

Johannesburg Main Reef Rotary club member Susanne Govender Nell explained the importance of giving back to the community. “Most people do not realise how fortunate they are. Having a hot plate of food and a warm place to sleep is everything. Our blanket drive is to remind people to be mindful of the needs of others,” she said.

Nell urged the community to come together to support the rotary clubs to reach their target.

She further asked the community to take into account how donating a blanket will help someone, or even a family get through harsh winter nights.
