MULTIMEDIA: Rand Park High School meet the Lions

RANDPARK – Rand Park High School pupils get an awesome surprise visit from a particularly successful rugby captain.

A surprise visit from Emirates Lions rugby team captain Warren Whiteley at Rand Park High School made 1 403 pupils very excited on 16 April.

Whiteley is the Emirates Lions captain he has also been selected for the Springbok rugby team. Listen to Whiteley talking about his next rugby game:

Whiteley supports Future Life for a happy and healthy diet. He came to the school to explain how one can face pressure from all over society to look or weigh a certain amount. “As a teenager I was always told I was too small for rugby. It was very hard for me to pick up weight so I force fed myself,” said Whiteley. The pupils were educated that it is not just through the use of a nutritional meal like Future Life that one can make better dietary choices. The product is completely natural and can be used as a cereal, meal replacement or even a snack.

According to Whiteley pupils especially those playing sports can often face pressure to perform continuously. “It is really important to have a balanced diet of carbohydrates, good fats, vitamins and proteins. It helps increase your energy levels and keep you focused throughout the day,” said Whiteley.

Future Life and Whiteley are visiting schools all around to educate pupils on a healthy diet. It is also a fundraiser for the schools for every label the school collects they will receive R1.

Rand Park principal Alan Wilke said, “We wish the Lions the greatest of success for their upcoming games and I also thank Warren for graciously giving up his time to talk to us today.”

The pupils really enjoyed meeting Whiteley – they lined up for selfies and pictures with the captain. Some of the pupils commented, “He is my hero. I’ll be taking his position one day.” Others said, “My mom and dad love the Lions they will be so jealous of me.”
