Recycling success

VANDIA GROVE – Vandia Gardens Resident's Association triumphs in their recycling initiative.

Vandia Gardens Resident’s Association (VGRA) achieved great results in their recycling project.

The group is dedicated to building a caring community in Vandia Grove, Beverly Gardens, OSummit and Bryanston Extension. The community came together to help create a healthier environment by recycling their rubbish – glass, paper and cardboard, tin and plastic.

The stats for their 2014 collection from 49 VGRA homes have been released and have stunned members of the association.

Glass: 11.2 tons

Paper and cardboard: 16.1 tons

Tin: 3.7 tons

Plastic: 8.6 tons.

Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood said, “My sincere congratulations on a fine achievement. Let’s work to sign up all the residents.”

Donna Sipman, a community member said, “Join our recycling initiative – email nviroassist@gmail.com to join up. They collect all your unsorted recycling weekly or bi-weekly from your house, making recycling clean, easy and hassle free.”
