One square, two square, three square more

FERNDALE – Bryanfern and Vandia Gardens resident associations appeal for donations of knitted squares.

Help shape together a blanket for victims of crime by knitting a square or two.

Bryanfern (BFRA) and Vandia Gardens (VGRA) resident associations have made a plea to the public to join their knitted-square project.

The project aims to knit squares which are stitched together to make blankets. The blankets will then be donated to the Randburg Trauma Centre.

“We appeal to residents to donate all knitting items such as wool, cotton or needles,” said Bronweyn Craig of BFRA.

“The blankets are used as shawls to drape over the shoulders of the victims at the trauma centre. It is small things like these which help someone just a little bit during their time of need,” said Di McCarthy of VGRA.

The wool that is donated is used by some of the domestic workers in the area and residents to knit the squares, thus empowering the community.

Visit their Facebook Bryanfern Resident’s Association and Vandia Gardens Resident’s Association pages to find out about joining the project and other initiatives they drive.
