Awesome spinning for autism

LITTLE FALLS – Residents are invited to spin for children with autism.

Come and do awesome spinning to raise money for children with autism on 18 April. Keller Williams Realty Sync, which is based in Honeydew Ridge, will host a spinathon at Virgin Active Little Falls. The event will raise money for auSOMEtism, a non-profit organisation that increases awareness about autism, and raises funds for various autism projects.

Shaun Murphy, the organisation’s founder, says that the money raised from the spinathon will go toward the construction of a hydroponic vegetable garden and sensory room at the Faery Glen Therapy Centre, North Riding. The centre is a school for children with autism. “We couldn’t be more grateful,” Murphy says. “It is always great to see people giving back to their communities.”

The realty company is hosting the spinathon as part of its Red Day initiative, where the company’s branches give back to their communities. Keller Williams Realty Sync Operating Principal Peter Bell invited residents to participate. He said that his branch chose to support children with autism because it is their passion. “We have seen a big need for that,” he explained.

“We love the project and we love the school.” Last year, the branch also hosted a spinathon for the school, which helped repaint the school and construct a gym. The spinathon will take place in one-hour slots between 8am and 1pm. To book a seat, contact Jo-Anne on kwsync@kwsa.co.za or 010 590 3322.
