Pikitup bins mess-up

NORTH RIDING – Pikitup makes mistake and forces residents to pay four times more for refuse removal.

Residents Edgar and Joyce Stevenson have been living in their home in Felstead Road for the last 20 years and service delivery has always been an issue.

The main issue though is Pikitup and their service toward the Stevenson’s.

According to Joyce, they have been billed double for the number of bins they have.

“Normally residents who have two bins will be billed about R250 or so, we have been billed a R1 000 to remove and clear two bins.”

“This according to me is way too much to pay,” added Edgar.

He explained that in June 2014 two workers from Pikitup showed up with an information sheet.

“We welcomed them in but we couldn’t understand a word they were saying. So I told them to leave my property as they made false claims about our bins and I refused to sign their form.

“The mistake they made was to assign our neighbours’ bins to us and we have had to pay for them for the last eight months. We have complained but nothing ever happens,” concluded Edgar.

Comment from Pikitup is still awaited.
