FONTAINEBLEAU – Charity Stores seek to help children and the community of Fontainebleau.

The Charity Stores situated in Fontainebleau Village Shopping Centre, seek support from the community.

Robert Miller, chief executive officer of the Charity Stores, said they need community support in order to make sales as proceeds from their sales are donated to various charities.

“There is a serious lack of funding in South Africa, due to the state of the economy. People do not give money however, they will donate some of their old stuff. We then take it and sell it to raise money for various organisations within the area,” explained Miller.

Some of the charity organisations they support are: Family Worship Centre Hospice in Hursthill, orphaned children of Sparrow Ministries, Rainbow Village Children’s Home and child-headed households in Orange Farm.

Miller added,”Any donation is welcome. There are so many people needing support, and the Charity Stores aim to help the whole community.”

He added that donations of furniture, ornaments, books, clothing, linen, glassware, paintings, records, CDs, DVDs, silverware, shoes, cups and dinner plates will make a difference to the charities that are in difficult times.

Miller urges the public to please support any of the three Charity Stores situated in Fontainebleau on the corner of Rabie Street and Republic Road, Kelvin and Roodepoort.

Elzahne Burger who works at the Charity Stores said,”I have a passion for what I do. I love packing, sorting and organising the things in the shop. It is rewarding meeting different types of people, with this kind of shop there is more intimacy.”

Charity Stores also run a feeding scheme programme that currently support over 500 children.

They are in desperate need of donations for transport to deliver the food to the children and funds to buy food.

The community can also benefit from the shop by being able to purchase good quality items at reasonable prices.

The Charity Stores will also consider supporting other local organisations on application.

Donations can be made by sending an SMS to 41423 with the word ‘CARE’ and donation of R25.
