Dog survives flooding, is taken to SPCA

RANDPARK – Dog is believed to have been swept up in river during flooding, survives.

A dog that is believed to have struggled against the flooding on 17 February, is now safe and sound at SPCA Randburg. Resident Pips Klug was walking her own dog in a park near Arend Avenue, Randpark, later that morning when she saw the animal wet and limping about. “He looked like he had a rough night,” Klug said. She also saw two other loose dogs across a nearby river, but could not reach them.

Believing that the dog had been swept up in a river and hurt, she took the dog to SPCA Randburg, where it is currently. “He [the dog] has not undergone an assessment yet,” said SPCA Randburg Kennel Manager Leigh de Beaufort. “His limping is not that severe… he has been left to settle down.” She said that it is possible that the dog fell into a river. The dog did not have a collar on when it was found, and has no microchip,
