World Cancer Day was not that different. Elder helped organise and distribute gift packs to every day cancer patient and radiation patient in the hospital. The packs included a low GI meal, hand cream, dried fruit, lip ice, eyeliner, a cellphone pouch, Vaseline and a bottle of water. “I do this because I am a survivor,” she said. “They need it.” South African First Lady Thobeka Madiba-Zuma also visited the hospital, and spoke on cancer prevention and early detection.
