Councillor addresses Ward 104 concerns

RANDBURG – Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood addresses his main concerns.

Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood gave insight into major concerns and issues within areas of his constituency.

Wood explained that his ward is large and therefore many of the issues are widespread – often in two suburbs at once.

Here are some of the plans he is working on:

  • Upgrade and renovation of the Rabie Street Park in Fontainebleau
  • Promote the Junior Traffic Center in Fontainebleau
  • Facilitate an upgrade at the Department Home Affairs, in Randburg
  • Ongoing project to improve certain corridors into the Ward –at present looking at service delivery issues in Oxford Road
  • Working with all RAs across the Ward to promote recycling
  • Working with RAs across the Ward to promote rain harvesting
  • Working to secure the area under the bridge in Rabie Street –Fontainebleau
  • Promote the green areas in the Ward and encourage residents to use them
  • Conduct regular audits with Ward inspector in the Ward to speed up service delivery
  • Continue to put pressure on City Power to install street lights in Cumberland Road – Bryanston
  • Work with City Parks to develop and promote the use of Dundee Park – Bryanston
  • Develop the Cottersmore Wetland Park with a view to build a bridge across the river
  • Work with the community to promote and develop the Cumberland Bird Sanctuary
  • Ensure the culverts on Cumberland Drive are stabilised to prevent road collapsing
  • Ongoing project to beautify areas in the ward, intersections and parks
  • Ongoing campaign to ensure substations are maintained and secured.
