How to log your complaints
RANDBURG – Ward 102 councillor David Potter urges residents to log complaints in the correct way.
There are going to be planned power outages by Eskom and City Power.
As we welcome the New Year, residents are reminded of an accurate manner in which to lay a municipal complaint.
Ward 102 councillor David Potter stresses the importance of logging a complaint in the correct way.
”The city has set their targets that they hope to meet, for instance, repair a water issue in two days as oppose to 10. The problem that we (the ward councillors and residents) encounter is that of many different systems that the city uses do not match up with each other, therefore, complaints get lost and the cycle starts again, ” explained Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck.
Truluck added, ”I further suggest that residents use the online logging system to lodge their complaint as this seems to be a lot more reliable.”
A resident needs to have a case number from the logged complaint in order to follow up on the proper performance of the city’s entities.
”The public need to understand that there is a procedure when logging complaints. You need to log the issue with the relevant entity and get a reference number. It must also be specific, for instance, a sewage leak must be logged with Joburg Water. With the case number in hand, you can then contact the ward councillor of your area in order to ensure correct installation and oversight,” commented Ward 115 councillor Chris Santana.
