Hoërskool Randburg celebrates their top achievers

RANDBURG – Hoërskool Randburg is proud of the achievements made by their matric class of 2014.

The long wait for 2014 matric results was finally over for Hoërskool Randburg’s pupils on 6 January.

All of the 128 candidates that took part in the examinations passed – 73.4 per cent qualified for bachelor degrees studies at universities and the rest qualified for further studies with a diploma pass. No less than 183 were distinctions were obtained.

Top student Louis Coetzee passed with an average of 92 per cent and obtained seven distinctions. His top three marks were 97 per cent in life orientation, 94 per cent in accounting and 93 per cent in science.

“I am feeling very blessed and thankful to everyone that contributed last year. To celebrate, I am going out with my family later for dinner,” said happy student Coetzee.

Proud mum Mariette Coetzee said she is extremely happy with Louis’ results. He will study BCom Accounting at the University of Pretoria (Tuks).

André van der Merwe, the second top achieving student, got an average of 88 per cent, while Saramari Prins, the third achiever got an 87 per cent average both obtained eight distinctions.

Deirdre van Wyk and Jancke Mentz passed with seven distinctions.

“I am very thankful for the good results and that all students have passed. The subject averages for last year show a good upward trend, for example in accounting, 58 per cent of the students got distinctions,” said principal Pieter Booysen.

“It is not always about the top performers,they did exceptionally well, it is also about the bottom of the log students that pulled their weight and we really do applaud them,” added Booysen.

5 Jancke Mentz, 86 per cent

8 Graeme Lubbe, 84 per cent

9 Jessica Zaayman, 83 per cent

10 Simone Walters, 83 per cent
