Let’s keep Randburg clean and safe – Sandy Andrews

RANDBURG - Sandy Andrews, chairperson of the Randburg CPF sends her Christmas wishes to the community.

2014 has been an incredibly busy year for the CPF Randburg committee members, as we have been forging partnerships/ relationships with the stakeholders that can make a difference in our communities, in addition to being more visible to the residents of Randburg.

Our presence has also been felt at meetings concerning the future of our beautiful city, and we have had far more exposure to SAPS’ decision-making workshops at provincial level in addition to representation at cluster level.

Awareness campaigns played a major part in our communications with the public.

A successful Open Day exposed the public to the SAPS Randburg members; pamphlets were distributed at high-traffic areas, warning motorists of the prevalence of theft out of motor vehicles; each of the three Sector representatives visited public meetings in their areas and we held our well-attended AGM in October.

We began our much-publicised cleanup of Randburg’s open areas – the Randburg Taxi Rank was given a good scrub and we were successful in

demolishing houses occupied illegally by criminal elements.

Recognition was given to the importance of the taxi industry as an integral part of the Randburg community, and we are represented at the weekly

NTLC meetings.

A sponsored IT training facility is being officially launched at SAPS Randburg this month, which is a real feather in the cap of former committee

members, now retired but still dedicated to community service.

2015 is going to be a year where the CPF does not accept ‘No’. It is going to be a really exciting year!

We have linked up with big business through the Business Forum, which is in the planning stages; our School Forum is being restructured; we are going to make far more use of social media channels – an interactive website will be launched; community education campaigns will be stepped up in an effort to reduce the ‘preventable’crime statistics; sports activities will strengthen the bonds between SAPS members and the public; our relationships with our stakeholders will mean more problem-solving; and we are getting involved in the anti-drug campaigns being formulated by Province and

managed by the cluster.

Our Trauma Centre will be well-funded so that Elaine Crossling, who runs the centre, has the support she needs to carry on with her vital services to the Randburg community.

We would like to thank all our sponsors and everyone who contributed in any way to the successes in 2014 and who are staying on board for 2015.

Our relationship with SAPS Randburg is excellent, and we are proud to be associated with such a well-run, award-winning station.

The CPF Randburg remains dedicated to improving the living standards of all our residents and to supporting those who are sworn to serve and protect the Randburg communities.

On behalf of all our committee members, I wish you a safe and happy holiday, surrounded by loved ones.

If you are travelling, please take care on the busy roads.

When you return next year, I am confident that you will begin to see a cleaner, safer Randburg.

And I hope that many of you will decide to get involved within your communities.

Every small effort helps.

Warm regards to all.

Sandy Andrew, Chairperson

CPF Randburg
