Seven injured in taxi accident

FOURWAYS – Taxi accident leaves four with serious injuries and three with minor injuries.

Seven people were injured in an accident on Witkoppen Road, Fourways, in the morning of 24 November.

Netcare Limited Inland Media Liaison Chris Botha explained that a taxi veered off the road between Kingfisher Drive and Cedar Road, hit a cyclist and then crashed into the side of a truck.

The cause of the accident can only be speculated at this point, but police were on scene and are investigating the matter, Botha said.

Douglasdale Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan did not have any details of the accident at the time. Botha explained that, “Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the cyclist lying on the ground with serious injuries.” “Six occupants from the taxi was injured, three seriously so while three escaped with minor injuries. After paramedics stabilised the injured at the scene they transported them to various hospitals in the area for further care.”
