Duduzane Zuma inquest begins

RANDBURG - Inquest into the accident involving Jacob Zuma's son Duduzane Zuma continued on 4 November at the Randburg Magistrates court.

RANDBURG – The inquest into the death of Phumzile Dube began on 4 November in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

On 1 February Duduzane Zuma drove his Silver Porsche into the back of a minibus taxi allegedly resulting in the death of Dube.

State prosecutor Yusaf Baba said, “Dube died from extensive blunt force trauma, with extensive injuries to the internal organs of the chest and abdomen and multiple fracture blood loss.”

Jeanette Mashaba who was also involved in the accident died approximately 3 months after the accident. However Baba added it appears on the death certificate that the cause of death is ‘natural’. “We will therefore not peruse charges as she died of natural causes,” he said.

The inquest will run from the 4 November until the 14 November.

During the inquest Magistrate Lalita Chetty did not allow any media proceedings to take place while the inquest unfolded.
